Asian-American Country Artist Takes Home Honors for “Take It Out On My Guitar” at the 2026 Josie Music Awards
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (September 21, 2026) - Rising Asian-American country artist Bella Lam has been named the winner of the 2026 Josie Music Award for Song of the Year – Country Female (Division E) for her song “Take It Out On My Guitar.” The honor was presented Sunday, Sept. 20th, at the 2026 Josie Music Awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn.
Recognized as the largest and premier independent music awards program, the Josie Music Awards selected this year’s nominees from more than 101,000 submissions, making Lam’s win a significant milestone in her growing career.
Completely surprised when her name was announced, Lam accepted the award standing in the Grand Ole Opry circle. In an emotional speech, she thanked God, her family, and her team before dedicating the award to her late bassist, Conrad “Conway” McKinney, who passed away in April just 20 days after his 20th birthday.
“I want to dedicate this award to my bassist who passed away 20 days after his 20th birthday in April. This one’s for you, Conway,” Lam shared from the Opry stage.
Co-written by Bella Lam, Lauren McLamb and Chris Rafetto, “Take It Out On My Guitar” turns heartache into fuel, channeling raw emotion into a bold country anthem. With nods to powerhouse influences like Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, and The Chicks, Bella proves that sometimes the best revenge isn’t a dramatic exit—it’s a melody he can’t escape.

The Josie Music Award marks another milestone in a breakout year for Bella, who was also nominated for Rising Star of the Year – Country Female and Music Video of the Year – Performance Focused (Female) at this year’s awards.
Lam’s current single “Bootfirst” follows “Take It Out On My Guitar,” and has earned radio support and television exposure, including placement on CMT’s Equal Play playlist and rotation through country television networks.
A Nashville native raised in West Tennessee, Lam is a multi-instrumentalist and dynamic live performer who plays more than 100 shows annually throughout the Southeast. She has performed at CMA Fest, the Bluebird Cafe and the Listening Room Cafe, and shared the stage with artists including Candi Jenkins, Daniel Donato and Strung Like A Horse.
Lam is currently touring and working on new music, with a Christmas single planned for release later this year and additional music in development as she looks ahead to 2027.
