An irresistible song for summer, “Lydia” was distributed via PlayMPE and impacted Triple A, Americana and Non-comm stations earlier this week (5/2). Today, Holler is revealing the new single in an online exclusive premiere, lauding the artist as one that is “Leaning into the stadium-sized grandeur of War on Drugs and Tom Petty, as well as the lyrical brilliance of John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen" with “profoundly existential depth to his lyrics.” “Lydia” is included on Josh’s forthcoming album We’re On Fire (State Fair Records), set for release on May 13th.

In his interview with Holler, Josh shared, “‘Lydia' is a song for the perfect summer day -- you’re driving down the highway with the windows down, daydreaming about the excitement of new love. It's meant to transport you to a magical moment or happy memory, and a similar feeling of being in love.”

“Lydia” is the third single release from the emerging troubadour’s forthcoming album We’re On Fire (album pre-save HERE), and is the follow up to Josh’s previously-released song “Stories” and his title track “We’re On Fire.” Featured by The Dallas Morning News, IndieVibes, CowboyLifestyle and Central Track, Folk N Rock lauded, “Sometimes difficult moments can not only be life-changing, but they can spark a blazing inferno of creativity.” “Stories” and “We’re On Fire” quickly notched an impressive 30,000 streams on YouTube, including the recently released music video for title track “We’re On Fire,” view (HERE).

Josh’s debut LP We’re On Fire includes 11 self-penned songs that contemplate the implications of finding purpose in an impermanent world, and in the middle of transformative times. He shared more about his forthcoming album We’re On Fire on KETR “Notably Texan,” here - https://bit.ly/378orbh - adding, “Indeed, we are on fire and the burning question in the background of our lives is - what will remain once the ashes have blown away?”

We’re On Fire was written after Josh experienced his own brush with death, making his way out of his Dallas apartment, after the building caught fire. In the days following that pivotal moment, he fully realized that we’re only given so much time, and like fuel to a fire, time eventually runs out. We’re On Fire details Josh’s transformative journey since then, with songs that are reflective of his youth, the people that have come and gone, and what lies ahead.

Josh is currently signed to Dallas, Texas record label State Fair Records. He grew up in a family of accomplished musicians including his grandmother Evelyn, who was a backup vocalist for Patsy Cline during her Hayride circuit, and his father Danny Balis, the co-owner of the Twilite Lounge music venue (Dallas / Fort Worth) and bassist of the band Bastards of Soul.
